School and
Educational Visits

Book a visit to our exciting farm education and studies centre at Broom House Farm, 5 miles west of Durham. Our aim is to get children on to the farms for some outdoor education to learn about farming in the 21st century, and discover the relationship between the countryside and their food.  Broom House is a working organic farm, with main enterprises of sheep and beef cattle plus arable, pork and egg production. We have been offering school and educational visits with a difference for 20 years and have won awards for leading the way in outdoor education. Let’s get children into the countryside for hands-on learning and fun!

Our educational visits are planned to fit around the needs of the group and take into account the seasons.  This is a working farm and on the day of the visit activities will be organised according to the weather, the seasons and what is going on around the farm at the time of the visit.

Please note that the Forest Adventure Trail is also available for use for school groups. We are Forest School trained and can do Forest School activities. There are also quizzes based around the idea of being nature detectives and the trails can be used for orienteering and team building work. If you are working on a topic that fits in with any of our forest activities please let us know in advance.
