Farm Shop

The Farm Shop is very well stocked and open, although closed on Sundays and Mondays until this outbreak ends, so that our staff can have a rest day.  We are allowing a maximum of 2 customers into  the shop at any time (bring a coat). We require you to please wash your hands here on arrival (there is warm water and soap at the handwashing station – please bring a handtowel) and keep your distance from other customers and our staff using the floor tape markings. We have contactless payment. Customers do tell us that the shop system is working very well and that it is doing them good to drive up here and see the calves and lambs in the fields. Please take a walk on the public footpaths here, they are almost unused.  Please do not visit the farm if you have a cough or are unwell
If you are able to phone your order ahead for “toot and collect” this is a great help, protects our staff and means we can offer you a completely contact free service 01913718839. Once we have prepared your order we will ring you to take payment. You then drive up here, open your boot and get back into your car. We put the bag of shopping into your car and you can then check it, close your boot and drive home. We are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be answering the phone, sorry. If you can’t get us by phone please do email a wish list to info@broomhousedurham.co.uk

We have plenty of dairy produce, honey, bread, cheese, beer, chocolate, pasta, vegetables and other local produce, as well as our own baked products – cakes, scones, sausage rolls and quiches etc.

The Farm Shop page will help you with our meat prices but is currently closed due to overdemand so please ring 0191 3718839 or use the contact form to get in touch. Our facebook page is updated more frequently than this page, with details of our daily delivery routes and there is a link to it above this post.

✅If you really need a delivery please also ring us. There is no delivery charge but we ask you to order enough for one week and a minimum of £30 of meat. Availability of delivery slots will be limited to vulnerable people that really need one. We will not have any contact with customers during deliveries. We have a regular delivery on Thursdays to Chester-le-Street and on Fridays to Durham City.

We are closed on Sundays and Mondays for the duration of this outbreak so that our amazing staff can have a rest. Any NHS or other frontline workers that can only collect on Sunday/Monday – we can still arrange this with advance warning.

Stay in touch and Stay safe.

Online Shop. We have marked all produce as out of stock for the moment as we could not keep up with demand, apologies, these are exceptional times.

Broom House Farm Shop is at the centre of our organic farm in the Browney Valley overlooking Durham City, just 6 miles to the west of the cathedral. The farm has been registered as organic with Organic Farmers & Growers (FA002017) since 2005. We breed and rear our own 100% pure Aberdeen Angus beef, lamb, mutton and rare breed British Saddleback pork, hams, sausages and bacon and all beef and lamb is grass fed. This is the place to shop if you value the best flavoured beef, lamb and pork in Durham!

The Farm Shop sells a wide range of complementary and local products, including organic milk and butter, cheese, vegetables, beers, honey, cards and unusual gifts.

Our beef is dry aged for 21+ days and prepared with great attention to detail by our craft butchers.

Our beef and lamb are 100% organic but we do not have an organic butchery licence so it’s not labelled organic in the Farm Shop.

Farm Shop Butchery Counter

We will have most products available everyday, although our fresh organic poultry is delivered on Wednesdays. Please do ring with any special orders and also if you would like to reserve some of our most popular cuts, such as fillet steak, lambs liver, brisket…. as we only sell our own meat we have a limited supply and run out of various cuts from time to time depending on demand.
