Coffee Shop

The Coffee Shop is open Tuesday – Saturday 9am-4.30pm. The Coffee Shop and Forest Adventure are open exceptionally on Monday 10th August.

You are welcome to eat and drink our food at our tables well spaced out on our grassy playfield. We are not offering indoor seating just yet. Picnics may not be eaten in the Coffee Shop outdoor area or in the Forest.

  1. Please wash your hands at the outside trough by the farm shop when you arrive at the farm and sanitise your hands before entering the coffee shop, loos and forest adventure.
  2. There are loo facilities and some play equipment on site, these are cleaned regularly but not after every customer, there are cleaning products available for you to use should you wish.
  3. We are offering delicious coffee and drinks, alongside a small selection of yummy cakes, scones, soup and bacon sandwiches, also burgers and even chips!  Full English and vegetarian breakfasts are available
  4. Face coverings are meant to be worn inside now, so adults should please remember to bring one with you if you are able to wear one, as ordering of food and drinks takes place inside the coffee shop
  5. Children are welcome to play on the playfield but must respect our staff and other visitors that may need to distance and must not go to the loos unattended.
  6. It can be chilly up here – bring warm coats, hats and blankets…and something to sit on if the benches are damp!
  7. Picnics may be eaten here in our separate picnic area – see below for picnic area details
  8. We have registered for the Eat Out to Help Out scheme (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)

The Forest Adventure is open – please see the webpage for full details regarding booking etc

Please pick up a loyalty card when you buy your next coffee with us and follow the Coffee Shop on Instagram!

Broom House Farm supplies all the meat for our delicious breakfasts and lunches and milk and the butter for our scones is supplied by Acorn organic dairy.  We have vegetarian and vegan dishes and do ask if you have any dietary needs, we usually have alternatives.

The coffee shop is housed in a beautiful wooden building with living sedum roof and solar power. A cosy log burning stove waits to warm you on cold winter’s days. Glazed doors open out on to a large sun deck, where tables overlook a children’s play field, perfect for coffee in the sunshine.

Afternoon Tea in the Coffee Shop

1.30pm – 4pm daily once we get back to normal.  Spoil yourselves with a scrumptious home made Afternoon Tea. Work up an appetite first with a country walk, enjoy views across Durham. £30 for 2 or £35 for 2 with a glass of prosecco each! Please note: we need 24 hours notice to prepare afternoon tea.

Picnic Field

We have a picnic field next to the grassy car park area – bring picnic rugs/picnic chairs/tents/thermoses/BBQs for a traditional picnic. The Picnic Field is NOT next to the Cafe but it is within the field car park, which saves carrying heavy bags. Enjoy a picnic and then head to the Coffee Shop for coffee and cake! We do not have a wet weather picnic area.
