Forest Adventure!

Our Coffee Shop &  FOREST ADVENTURE are open DAILY during the school summer holidays!

If you want to guarantee your entrance to the Forest, tickets MUST BE PURCHASED ONLINE in advance – the link is at the bottom of this page. We feel that online booking is still the best option as we are still limiting numbers and do not want people to travel here and be disappointed.

All adults and all children aged 2+ entering the Forest Adventure must have a ticket. (£6.50 per person) and children may not enter the Forest Adventure unattended.

What is the Forest Adventure? WATCH this VIDEO!

You must please check in at the coffee shop on arrival to have your tickets verified and collect your quizzes, pencils, stickers etc. You will be asked to leave the Forest Adventure if you have not checked in, so please make sure you do this before you head down!

Tickets are non exchangeable, non transferable and non refundable so please check your calendar and the weather forecast before booking and double check your basket carefully before completing your purchase. Your tickets will be valid from 10am – 4pm and you can arrive, leave & re-enter the Forest at any time during this period.

It can be wet in the wood with muddy areas, please dress appropriately – stout boots/trainers are best, as are long sleeves and long trousers.

Broom House Farm’s Forest Adventure offers Durham’s most exciting action packed fun family day out…or just a lovely green leafy space to take a walk with the family.  Follow the numerous nature trails, attempt the woodland challenges…climb the towers, whizz down slides, fly along the zip wires and dare to enter the tunnels.

If you’re not up for the physical challenges on offer, have a go at some of our forest quizzes.  From dragon hunting to deer tracks, frogs to fairies, word searches to learning about our woodland trees, there’s something for everyone, young and old.

Please note we request that you do not take food to the forest, there is no handwashing in this area.  We have a picnic area next to the main car park.

Tickets must be purchased through our website in advance.
Children under 17 are not allowed on the trail unattended.
Please note that our tickets are non-refundable and non transferable.  Please check your diary and the weather forecast before booking.  Please also check your basket before completing your purchase. If your circumstances change unexpectedly and you unable to come or need to leave early, please contact us by email only and we may be able to give you a voucher for a return visit on another date this year, subject to availability.

Carers please see information in accessibility/on our FAQs page.

SEASON TICKETS –   We are not currently offering season tickets.

PUSHCHAIRS & WHEELCHAIRS  – we are often asked whether the Forest Adventure is suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs.  There is a special gate for wheeled vehicles to the left of the main entrance bridge.  Once inside, the main paths are fairly hard and covered with woodchip, but they are not tarmac/concrete.  It all depends on the pushchair/wheelchair, but we find that the more rugged pushchairs are easily wheeled around the wood, as are lighter wheelchairs.  Some paths and equipment are not accessible, but there is access to all the quiz stations and you can leave you pushchair in the wood (at your own risk) if that suits you.  Obviously after heavy rain/in the colder months there may be mud/puddles – do ring for an update

We offer a 100% Carer’s Discount on production of a Durham carers card, Max card or similar proof together with photographic ID.  Put simply we offer a free ticket for a carer when accompanying one full priced ticket holder.  May not be used with other special offers. Please buy your other tickets online and then bring proof that you are a carer together with ID and we will make sure you get a free ticket.

Some of the paths may be muddy and that wooden bridges and play equipment can be extremely slippery when wet. For your protection please wear sturdy shoes such as walking boots/trainers and sensible outdoor clothing with long sleeves and trousers rather than shorts/dresses – as these will  help prevent prickles and scratches. Flip flops and similar shoes are NOT recommended. For extra fun dress in your best woodland camouflage gear!

DOGS! Friendly dogs are welcome in the Playfield, Forest Adventure and Coffee Shop but must be kept on a lead at all times.  Please take your poo bags home with you.
