The new season's lamb has been flying off the shelves, the lean, paler meat looks irresistible in the counter and the chops are the perfect size!  Try this Jamie Oliver recipe for Lamb with Vegetables, it's a nice fresh tasting menu idea.  Do try putting a whole butterflied leg of lamb on the BBQ, they are so easy to cook and the flavour is amazing - try Rick Stein's recipe.


After just a month of being open everyday we are noticing a change in your shopping patterns.  Sundays are getting busier and  Mondays are a very popular shopping day! Best of all the long Saturday queue has reduced.  It's been nice to meet some of your partners as you are now able to visit with them on Sundays and feedback from you is very positive.  


After a month of rain and dreary weather, the BBQs are being dusted down again.  Ian is ensuring that our great range of burgers is kept topped up and Jamie will be preparing some more of his BBQ packs. Michael is back from a warm week in Turkey to hold the fort whilst the rest of us take some time off with our families; don't worry though, he'll have his next holiday booked by now.


Our new smoked bacon is selling very well as are our traditional dry cured back and streaky bacon, and the range of mustards and sauces that we are gently expanding seems to be very popular.  This month we have 3 varieties of Simon Lacey's Cheese in from Richmond, you may have sampled his cheese at the Farmers' Markets.  We also have local Durham honey produced by Grandpa Gray's bees and perfect for any hayfever sufferers living locally to Durham/Chester-le-Street.


This month's Farmers' Market will be on Thursday 16th August.  Our weekly stand in Durham Market Place from 9am-2.30pm is proving a useful stop off for those of you passing through Durham on a Saturday.  Do contact us on 0191 371 8839 if you would like any meat or eggs taking down to these markets for you.
