Broom House Farm News
MARCH 2012
|
| Hello Everyone! Welcome to the new look Broom House Farm monthly newsletter. We hope that it will include all the usual seasonal and random observations as well as details of events and activities here on the farm. Since we first opened our farm gates to the public in 2003 we have welcomed thousands of you to our small piece of County Durham. Thank you for all your support, without you Broom House Farm would be a very quiet place!

Open Farm Sunday
This is an annual national event – we will be opening the farmyard gates to the public for the afternoon, so come along for a free farm tour (donations to our charity) at 2pm.
New Sheepdog Pup
Zip
Zip the Border Collie arrived on saturday. At just 8 weeks old it will a while until she is able to round up the sheep out on the farm, but she is already part of the family, Emma and William are loving having a pup in the house!
Knitting!
I wish I could knit, there are so many stunning wools and knitting patterns in the shops these days.
Lambs
The main lambing season has started earlier than expected on this farm, Mark was expecting to be busy from tomorrow but we have already got a shed full of babies. They are squeezed into every corner of the barns, waiting for a decent weather forecast so that we can put them out on to the grass. Hannah, our lambing (Vet) student has saved the day by arriving early as well and she has been extremely busy, together with the men on the farm, building pens and moving ewes and lambs about. Even the chilren have volunteered to help out...I knew the Easter holidays were there for a reason!
